In the last 24 hours, remarkable developments have taken place in the world of software and technology. While major cybersecurity operations were conducted in Turkey, important announcements were made regarding artificial intelligence and hardware.

Large-Scale Cybersecurity Operations

Significant steps were taken nationwide within the scope of cybersecurity operations coordinated by the Ministry of Interior in Turkey. In operations carried out in 14 provinces over the past five days, 306 suspects involved in online child pornography, qualified fraud, and illegal betting crimes were apprehended, with 18 of them being arrested. Additionally, in another operation centered in Kayseri and spread across 7 provinces, 53 suspects who committed "modem fraud" by imitating internet service provider websites were detained. It was determined that these individuals defrauded over 17,000 people, generating a transaction volume of 757.5 million Turkish Lira; 31 suspects were arrested as a result of the operation.

Innovations in AI and Hardware

On the artificial intelligence front, OpenAI announced that it will launch a dedicated hardware device for its AI-powered coding tool, Codex, on July 15. A video shared by the company on the X platform showed a square-shaped device with a few buttons, marking OpenAI's first entry into the hardware market. Meanwhile, Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 AI model has been re-enabled after the US Department of Commerce lifted export controls. Access to the model had previously been suspended due to national security concerns.

Major Transformations in Automotive and Entertainment Sectors

In the automotive sector, Ford rehired 350 experienced engineers after artificial intelligence and automation systems failed to deliver expected results in quality control. This situation highlights the challenges encountered in industrial applications of artificial intelligence. A major transformation is also set to occur in entertainment technologies. Sony announced that it will cease physical disc production for all new PlayStation games starting January 2028, transitioning to a completely digital future. New games released after this date will only be available in digital format.

HUAWEI Opens Special Experience Zone in Turkey

Finally, on July 4, HUAWEI opened a new-generation experience zone in Istanbul, offering the first opportunity to get a close look at flagship models such as its triple-foldable smartphone, the Mate XT, and its foldable computer, the MateBook Fold, which are not yet officially sold in the Turkish market. This investment is seen as part of the brand's retail and direct-to-consumer strategies in the local market.
