YÖK Launches New University Programs for AI and Digital Professions

With the announcement of the 2026-YKS results, interest in fields highlighted as "professions of the future," such as artificial intelligence engineering, cybersecurity, big data analytics, and digital game technologies, continues to increase significantly in university preferences. The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) reported that 81 new programs in AI and informatics were opened in the last three years to meet this evolving demand.

Future-Oriented Education and Employment Opportunities

This year, an additional 16 new programs, including interdisciplinary approaches such as "history and artificial intelligence" and "philosophy and artificial intelligence," were added to the preference guide, offering students a wide range of educational opportunities for future professions. Experts emphasize that while AI will automate some routine jobs, it will also create millions of new employment opportunities, and in the future, engineers who know how to produce with AI will possess the most valuable competence.

Skilled Workforce in the Age of AI

These strategic steps by YÖK aim to meet Turkey's need for a skilled workforce in the age of artificial intelligence and prepare young people for global competition. The new programs opened will provide students not only with technical knowledge but also with the skills to understand and address the ethical, social and cultural dimensions of artificial intelligence.
